TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – Tucson police say a man riding a bicycle was killed Monday night after colliding with a train.

The accident occurred just after 10 p.m. near downtown Tucson.

Traffic investigators said the train was traveling westbound, the crossing arms were in the down position and signals were flashing red.

Investigators said train operators sounded their horns to indicate the presence of an oncoming train.

Officers called to the scene discovered the victim, identified as 55-year-old Jerry Williams.

Police said Williams ignored the warnings and was seen attempting to cross in front of the train after going around the crossing arms just before the train struck him.

The Tucson Police Department is waiting for a toxicology report to determine if alcohol was a factor.

Did any one know Mr. Williams? My condolences go out to his family.
