Starting this week Pima County will begin paving a stretch of Camino Loma Alta south of Old Spanish Trail.

Matt Zoll, Pima County’s bike and pedestrian program manager wrote in an email that the bike lanes would not go all the way to Colossal Cave Road.

“Although we won’t get all the way to Colossal Cave Road with this project, cyclists can use Via Rancho del Lago as an alternative route,” Zoll wrote.

Zoll said there are plans to finish paving Camino Loma Alta and Colossal Cave Road from Pistol Hill to Empire High School, but it will take a few years.

“I know it’s a long time to wait, but with the limited revenues these projects just take time.” Zoll wrote.
