The Saguaro National Park East loop will be closed until Thursday for resurfacing.
The Cactus Forest Loop is just one of several areas of the park that will be getting resurfaced, but it is the only road that will be closed.
According to a press release from the National Park Service, the project will use a “micro seal” material that will offer a better riding surface than traditional chip sealing.
Here is the tentative schedule from the press release:
May 10-13 — East District’s Cactus Forest Drive
May 13-14 — All other East District Road roads and parking areas (visitor center, administrative, maintenance and residential areas)
May 17-18 — Kinney Road and other West District roads and parking areas (visitor center, administrative, maintenance and residential areas)
May 19 — Picture Rocks Road (from Cam Boh picnic area to Contzen Pass)
