Yet another stolen bike. If you see this bike, email Mark.

I have lost a dear friend of mine, after leaving it locked to a metal
pole behind a club I went to on Saturday. Initial review of Craigslist
hasn’t shown anything yet. But my bicycle was a Red Vitus 979, 58 cm,
I’m 5’10” and it was a bit too tall for me. The frame was red with
matching red rims and I really loved that bike. It had almost entirely
all Simano 600 components except for one piece that I can use to
identify it.

The picture is attached as a reference, my bike had white lettering on
the down tube not the top tube, and had brand new red and black bar
tape.

Thanks for the help and may karma be served to bike thieves.

  1. Vitus bikes are difficult-to-find bikes from the vintage experimental bonded (glued) era…there’s a sliver of demand for them, so Mark might want to compulsively google “craigslist vitus” and compusively check ebay by way of http://www.roadbikescheap.com/

(entering “vitus” in the search box)

    or check the Tucson pawnshops.

Of course it may have been parted-out by now.

Anyway, it’s sad, the theft. Aside from Mark’s loss, the theft amounts to stealing a little bit of bike history…

  2. Is it carbon fiber (it looks like steel)? cause if it is the bike is on craigslist right now. Listed by someone who knows nothing about the bike except how to google VITUS. Go get them and get the cops involved since this probably isn’t the first bike they’ve stolen.
