A portion of the Loop along the Santa Cruz river will be closed in both directions this week.

According to Pima County officials, Tucson Electric Power will be building power towers and running electric cables from Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 between Prince and Grant Roads.

TEP determined that closing the Loop to bicyclists and pedestrians was a necessary safety precaution.

The power company will place signs at each end of the closure.

The most direct alternatives are riding on Silverbell Road or the Frontage Road along Interstate 10.
