The University of Arizona Cycling Club was recognized by USA Cycling as the Collegiate Club of the Year for 2014.
“It’s a big accomplishment to be recognized by USA Cycling as one of the best clubs in the nation,” UA Cycling Club president Joey Iuliano.
Here’s a snippet from USA Cycling about why the club won:
The University of Arizona won this year’s “Collegiate Club of the Year” award through continual commitment to foster lifelong passion for bicycles in all members while also maintaining a nationally competitive team. Having won the club growth contest in 2013 they have continued to grow, with 73 members currently on the roster. The team makes sure all members are involved with more than just racing, with the team supporting trail build days as well as working with El Grupo Youth Cycling to help tutor and mentor riders.
Iuliano said the club will focus on developing the they host into well-known events around the region. He said they would also like to build up their financial stability and begin offering scholarships.
