A portion of the Rillito River Path will be closed next week during construction of restroom on the north side of the path at the Rillito Racetrack.
According to a press release from Pima County, cyclists and pedestrians can use the Mountain Avenue bridge to cross back and forth since it is east of the construction site.
The bathroom is part of improvements being made for a farmers’ market at the former race track.
Here’s a snippet from the release:
Loop users are encouraged to cross over to the path on the south bank of the Rillito during this construction project. The Mountain Avenue bicycle and pedestrian bridge is east of the construction site. The First Avenue and Stone Avenue bridges west of the construction site have bike lanes and access to and from The Loop.
Pima County is developing a site for a farmers market in the southeast corner of Rillito Regional Park, 4502 N. First Ave. The site will include a 12-foot-wide paved path about 600 feet long with three 110-foot-long ramadas to shade shoppers. Vendors will set up in gravel areas along the paved pathway.
The marketplace is expected to be completed in mid-October.
