Reports of thefts from vehicles are once again on the rise at the Starr Pass trailhead.
An email sent by Matthew Nelson the executive director of the Arizona Trail Association relayed his own experience.
Nelson went for a ride on Tuesday and returned two hours later to find his window shattered and personal belongings stolen.
We reported last January about a ride of thefts including a local bike shop owner having his whole car stolen.
During my own rides at Starr Pass, I’ve seen security vehicles parked in the lot occasionally, but they aren’t always there.
If you ride, run or hike in the Tucson Mountains do not leave your valuables in the car.
