A big thank you to everyone who submitted photos in this year’s summer photo contest.

This year we are awarding prizes to the top vote getter and had a professional photographer judge the images awarding prizes to his favorite photo.

David O’Brien’s butterfly photo received the most votes throughout the contest.

I asked Kim Newton an associate professor of practice in the University of Arizona School of Journalism to judge the photos. Newton has been photo editors for both Knight Ridder and Reuters.

Michael Lacy’s photo looking down the road was Newton’s choice.
