I rode to two more ghost bikes recently.

The first was Bruce Hedges who was struck from behind on Jan. 1, 2001 while riding on First Avenue just south of Ina Road. According to a post on TucsonBikeLawyer.com, the motorist was fined. No alcohol or drugs were involved.

The second was a ghost bike for Patti Lopez. Lopez was struck from behind on Camino de la Tierra just north of River Road.

Check out the map and photos below.

I still have three more ghost bikes to visit. Are there any that I am still missing?

  1. Nice work. I think you got ’em all.

While perusing the map I was struck by the consequences (or lack thereof) for killing a cyclist. For the most part, you get fined and that’s about it. RIP.

  2. Looks like some of those ghost bikes could use a touch-up. As someone who has installed several ghost bikes (and touched a few up, too), I want to remind your readers that anyone can take a morning and visit a ghost bike with some white paint and a brush to keep it looking good. If they rust too much they will become unsightly and be more likely to be removed.
