This big beauty is on its way to Tucson from Eugene, Or. here.

This box is sitting in the garage waiting for me to come home to it. Sadly, I probably won’t have a chance to put it together for several weeks, though.

The bike is a CETMA Largo, which I wrote about last month.

Here are a few more photos of the bike.

Here is the cargo area at the powder coater.
Here is the back half of the bike.
Here is a shot of the giant rear rack. The dimensions are 23 by 8 inches. It should be big enough to carry four grocery bags.

  1. Way cool!  I hope you get the time to put it together sooner, but I know that you’re pretty busy with school right now.  I want to see that bad boy out on the road.

  2. Thanks, Tom. Yes. It is not an inexpensive bike. Then again, things with real value generally aren’t.

When we discussed getting it, the conversation was about getting another car or getting a bigger cargo bike. We decided the cargo bike would be a better option for us.

The perceived value of cars far outweighs the value of a bicycle in the minds of many people, but I think this is a much more economical solution that a car.

The argument that could be made is that I could have done with the existing Xtracycle, which I would agree with to some extent, but future plans would require something bigger and watching Luci ride in our friend’s bakfiets ultimately made us get it.

Can’t wait to get it rolling!

  4. Mike, I follow your reasoning and agree that you spent your money well.  Everyone has a different set of circumstances to deal with in life.  The purchase wouldn’t make sense for some people, but it makes a lot of sense for you.
I just spent a lot of money for a van and I’m getting ripped for it by some people who haven’t considered my circumstances.  The reality is that the purchase makes very good sense for me and my family.
I’m looking forward to seeing your bakfiets on the road.
