Interested in bike camping, but not sure where to start?
Ordinary Bike Shop and Blackburn have partnered to get you out to the campsite by bicycle without having to worry about gear or even cars.
The Bicycle Tucson sponsor has organized a camping trip from their shop to Catalina State Park and will be taking the river paths to the campsite, which means the ride is virtually car free.
Here’s what they have to say about the event, which starts on Saturday Jan. 16 and concludes on Sunday Jan. 17.
Ever wanted to know about bicycle touring, bicycle camping, bikepacking, mountain biking, or anything in between? Want to test your gear and get ready for 24 Hours in Old Pueblo? Want to ride bikes with fun people? This event is accessible to everyone!
Come hang out with the folks from Blackburn & Ordinary Bike Shop on Saturday, January 16th. We’ll be screening the Blackburn film “Comes With Baggage”, riding bikes, camping, and socializing out at Catalina State Park.
Here’s the plan….
Meet up at Ordinary Bike Shop at 4:30 PM. At 5:00 PM we’ll take a nice group ride on some of Tucson’s growing bicycle infrastructure to our campground. We’ll head up the Santa Cruz Bike Path and the Canada Del Oro Bike Path. The ride to Catalina State Park from Ordinary Bike Shop is 28 miles, and the route is mostly flat and 99% car free bike path. New comers and beginners are encouraged and welcome! If your bike isn’t equipped with racks or bags that’s no problem, either. We’ll have sag vehicles that can drive your camping equipment out to you. The camp sites at Catalina State Park even have warm showers, electrical outlets, and running water.
Once we get out to Catalina State Park we’ll watch Blackburn’s movie “Comes With Baggage”. The kind folks at Blackburn are going to be giving away product in the form of raffles and swag. We’ll have food and beverages out in Catalina State Park for everybody participating.
