The City of Tucson’s director of transportation has his own personalized bike parking space outside the public works building in downtown Tucson.
Tucson’s bike and pedestrian program manager, Tom Thivener, said he wasn’t sure of the sign’s history, but thought someone in the streets department probably added it for fun.
Does the Director of Transportation ever park there, though?
Yep, he rides his bike every day: http://tucsonvelo.com/photos/rider-of-the-week-tdot-director/4351
I love the sign! It sends a message to other city officials. Maybe they should consider commuting also?
That’s awesome! I have one of those too. Sort of. Only TWO of us use the 9-bike bike-rack out of a crew of about 500.
