I am glad to hear that the Sun Trail is on track for completion. I just emailed Chuck to say thank you for his work on the project. More bike paths are important for Tucson both to make it a better place for Tucsonans and to make it a destination for others.
I believe that the best way for us to get more people on bikes is to first increase the recreational paths. As the numbers increase who get out and feel comfortable, so will the number of commuters. I wish we could get the Loop completed soon. I think that would do wonders for getting more people out on their bikes. Can’t we get companies to sponsor sections of the route in route for some minimal advertising that could even be limited to a number to years?
I honestly think something like that could be the shot in the arm that we need to get us closer to that goal of platinum status…

The comments on that Star article blow my mind. I know the comment system there is hardly the yardstick of civilization, but for so many to blindly echo the chorus of hostility without a thought about the fact that the automobile is *the most dangerous piece of machinery* the overwhelming majority of people will ever operate is nothing short of shameful.
