The popular and well-used bicycle station at the University of Arizona is expanding it’s days and hours of operation. At the same time, new stations are starting at Pima Community College.

Pima County bicycle and pedestrian program manager Matt Zoll said the UA bike share is now running 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. monday through Thursday.

He said they added Monday and are closing later because of the demand.

“We were having to turn people away,” he said.

Anton Russell was working at the station yesterday with dozens of students milling around looking for help. Russell said the first weeks back are particularly busy since people have neglected their bikes over the summer.

In addition to the UA station there are now bike stations at both the downtown and east campus of Pima Community College.

Pima’s Robin Steinberg said via email that the stations rotate between the two campuses and they are rotating times to try to determine when is the best time to reach people riding their bikes to campus.

“In the future, I’d like to expand this to the other Pima Campuses,” she wrote in an email. “There are very few people who bike to Pima campuses; and I feel this is a rich opportunity to increase ridership.”
