The City of Tucson continues to tweak its first official bicycle boulevard.

Two new features have popped up along the Fourth Avenue/ Fontana bicycle boulevard since the last time I rode the route.

The first is a sign hanging from the crossing at Ft. Lowell and Fontana boulevard to help illustrate to drivers that the crosswalk is for both pedestrians and bicyclists. We wrote about the signs some time ago, but now it is actually in place.

The city also added two plastic bollards at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Speedway Boulevard in an attempt to prevent motorists from driving straight through the intersection. Motorists are supposed to turn right or left onto Speedway, but because the bicycle lane heading north was so wide, motorists would drive in it.
