There are a lot of can’t miss events on the Tucson bicycling calendar each year. The annual Parade of Lights is one of them and it is happening Saturday, Dec. 20.

Ever year, Santa climbs up onto a bicycle-powered sleigh and his bicycling elves escort him through the streets of downtown Tucson.

It’s always a blast to see this kids scream their heads off for Santa and give the bicyclists riding with Santa high fives.

The parade doesn’t start until 6:30 and it usually takes some time for the parade to get moving. If you have kids you may want to get their closer to the start time so they don’t have to wait around too long. The staging area for the Santa’s bicycle escort is at 17th Street and 5th Avenue.

It’s also a lot of fun to decorate your bikes. You can get battery powered holiday lights and go to town.

Check out some old photos from the event.

  1. Even though the place you’ll want to be most often will be out on a job
site, either working or estimating, there also will be a certain amount of desk
duty you’ll have to pull when running your preservation/restoration business.
Some of the everyday activities you’ll be involved with include:
