UPDATE: For safety’s sake and comfort of the many families who were hoping to participate we are going to play it safe and cancel the ride.

It looks like the weather will clear for a few hours this afternoon and return about the time the ride gets going.

Of course the weather may change, but we want you to have time to plan for the evening. If you decide to go on your own, please be careful and respectful of the people walking in the neighborhood.

We will try to determine if an alternative date is feasible. Apologies for any inconveniences.

It’s time once again for Bicycle Tucson’s annual bike ride through Winterhaven.

This will be our fourth year doing it and it is always a blast. We are co-organizing with Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists to bring together as many types of cyclists as possible.

There is no better way to see the lights of the neighborhood and enjoy hot chocolate and kettle corn at the end.

Here are the details:

We’ll gather along the Rillito River Path at Campbell Avenue at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17 and leave shortly there after. If you can’t make it that early, you can meet us along the way or at the center of Winterhaven at 6:30 p.m. From there we’ll spend an hour slowly cruising the neighborhood and return to the center at 7:30 p.m. and enjoy kettle corn and hot cocoa.

Please remember to bring non-perishable food to donate to the Community Food Bank. According to the Winterhaven website the food bank needs cereal, canned soup, canned meat, canned tomato products, canned vegetables, canned fruit.

You can RSVP at the Facebook event

Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
