Head over to UMC tomorrow to meet elite cyclists on the Team Type 1 cycling team.

The team, which is made up of cyclists with Type 1 diabetes, is in town to ride El Tour de Tucson.

They will be at the Diamond Children’s Center lobby at University Medial Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Cyclists, Tucson Velo reader and pediatric endocrinologist Kurt Griffin said the event is open to the public.

“While I think this is a particularly important opportunity for our patients living with this disease themselves, it needn’t be so limited, and there are likely many more people who would be interested in this event,” Griffin wrote.

Griffin said Team Type 1 works to show what can be done despite this disease.
