The University of Arizona Criterium is scheduled for this Saturday, but it won’t be on the UA campus, well, the main campus anyway.
The race, which has started at 1st Street and Warren Avenue for the last several years, was forced to find a new course because of the streetcar.
Members of the UA Cycling Club, the group that puts on the race, looked for a suitable location on the main campus, but could not find a route that felt was safe. Rather than end the event, the club moved the race to the UA’s future Bio Park near Kino Parkway and 36th Street.
Racing starts at 7:30 a.m. with the Mens’s Masters categories and finishes at 4:30 p.m. with the start of the Men’s Pro/1/2 races.
Online registration closes on Thursday. Get all the start times, directions and register here.
