I like the free bikes to convicts program, especially because they’re provided selectively. A bike will provide much more service to someone coming out of jail looking to start over than to someone looking for a deal at a police auction. I don’t know about England, but a large percentage of prisoners are repeat offenders so I support anything that will help them to a better path. Also, the quote on how the program may provide incentive to bike thieves is ridiculous. No one will steal a bike, or any crime for that matter, hoping to be arrested in hopes to be given a bike.
As for the Tuesday Night Bike Ride, that’s a bummer. I was planning to go on it for the first time this week but that blog post and the subsequent comments put a damper on that.
