A pedestrian struck on Thursday near Valencia Road and Midvale Park Road died from his injuries yesterday afternoon.

David Taphorn, 59, was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a GMC pickup heading east on Valencia.

According to a Tucson Police Department press release, Taphorn, who had alcohol is his system, was crossing southbound across Valencia Road. Drivers on the inside lane of Valencia Road were able to swerve and avoid hitting Taphorn, but the driver of the GMC pickup, who was in the middle lane, could not avoid Taphorn and struck him.

  1. Still waiting to see any charges against the motorist who slammed into the back of the cyclist out on Ajo Highway a few weeks ago.
