On Sunday I am heading to Los Angeles for five days.
I was selected as one of 20 fellows for the Knight Digital Media Center’s Entrepreneurial Boot Camp. I submitted my application using TucsonVelo.com as my idea and was selected from over 100 other applicants.
The idea behind the boot camp is to train journalists to create sustainable and profitable news websites while maintaining journalistic integrity.
While I’m gone, I will be publishing three stories submitted by University of Arizona Journalism students.
I’m taking a friend’s folding bike and will try to squeeze a little riding while in LA. The schedule for the week has us busy from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. most days, but we do have a little free time.
I’ll attempt to update the site with photos and updates about riding in LA.
I won’t be able to attend Tucson’s Ride of Silence, but if someone wants to submit photos from the ride I would love to publish them.
Congratulations Mike! You’ve done an amazing job with TucsonVelo and it has become a great cycling resource in a very short period of time.

This is good because tucsonvelo’s coverage of events
in its area of interest is first rate and the writing is
better by far than any daily print media that been
available in recent memory.
Run with…er, ride with it Mike!

Hey Mike, you deserve it. You’ve done a great job with TV. Have fun and learn a lot.

Congratulations! And a very cool opportunity to plug TucsonVelo to a wider audience!
