I am live from the “Bike 2 Work Week” Downtown commuter station. I’ll post the commuter and advocate of the year shortly after they announce the awards.
The Tucson Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee announced their Bike Advocates and Bike Commuters of the year.
The first commuter of the year was Diahn Swartz who worked for the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and bikes to work every day.
The second commuter of the year was Ari Shapiro, who owns Xoom Juice. He travels between his three stores by bicycle.
Nanette Slusser was named the first advocate of the year. Slusser has been instrumental in moving the urban loop toward completion.
The second advocate of the year was BICAS who promotes cycling for all people regardless of gender or income bracket.
