Update: The costume contest just got serious. Ordinary Bike Shop is going to donate $50 gift certificates for each of the 3 categories. For that kind of money, I expect some serious costumes!

We got word yesterday that Ken Scoville of Old Peublo Walking Tours is going to ride with us and give a brief description of each of the historic spots we stop at.

We are going to end the ride at Hotel Congress and have drinks on the patio. We’ll also award the prizes for the best dressed gal, best dressed guy and best decorated bike.

The prizes so far include a shirt from Adam de la Mare with the Highwheeling Cowboy logo. Adam is generously donating 25% of the sales of the shirt to BICAS. Ordinary Bike Shop is providing gift certificates. We also have a cool plaque for the best dressed gal from PopCycle. And apparently Troy over at BICAS is working on some cool awards too.

If you are planning on coming, but haven’t already, let us know you are attending on BICAS’ event page.

Plan on attending the Bike in movie at BICAS after the ride.

  1. Damn! I stored a horse-head mask for over a year after wearing it as a Halloween costume (wife-n-I went as Midsummer Night’s Dream characters’ Bottom and Titania – slightly modified “horse” is as close as I could find to “donkey” anywhere), before it finally went to Goodwill in the Great New Year’s Closet Purge of 2010. Would’ve been great to mount it to the bike – or better yet wear it and dress the bike up as a cowboy. I’m only tossing these ideas out because I don’t think I can make it anyway, I have obligations elsewhere that afternoon that I will try to duck but probably can’t.

  3. Even if it should turn out that I can make it, I’m not going to be assimilated by the FaceBorg(tm) just to register my intent. My aversion to trendy social media is a matter of principle.
