Cyclists are being encouraged to attend a public meeting about proposed changes to the bicycle parking code within the city of Tucson and express their views about bicycle parking in Tucson.
The business community wants flexibility about where they are required to place bike racks, while the city is pushing to require the parking be placed within 50 feet of the entrance.
Check out this post for more information about the changes and why the city thinks it is important to locate bike parking sports within 50 feet of entrances.
If you go:
When: Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.
Where: Mayor and Council Chambers at 255 W. Alameda Street.
Editor’s note: I will not be able to attend the meeting. If you intend to go, please leave a comment and let us know what happened.
The hearing was continued but Tom Thivener and three others spoke in favor of the 50 limit. I wouldn’t call it a done deal as the draft document calls for 75 feet.
